The parotid tumours-benign and malignant: our experience

Salivary gland tumors are uncommon and constitute a highly heterogeneous histopathological group of neoplasms. The present study aims to determine the correlation between cytological findings parotid tumors, preservation facial posterior branch greater auricular nerve during surgery. A 21 cases was conducted at our hospital- GMERS Medical College Civil Hospital, Valsad. All them were clinically diagnosed investigated. Hospital records these patients including operative analyzed concerning age, sex, indications for surgical management, outcome. total salivary over 2 years representing pleomorphic adenoma most commonly occurring in 15 (71%) followed by Warthin`s 3 (14%) cases, mucoepidermoid carcinoma (10%) benign cystic lesion 1 (5%) cases. Most occurred 20-60 age group. Females more affected than males. data discussed this consistent with other hospital-based studies site, clinical presentation, diagnosis, complications, outcome different types tumors.
